Cinco de Mayo Mailbag: Music, Film, NFL Draft, and NBA Playoffs

May 5, 2011

It’s been roughly over five months since my last Mailbag, and I dare say, it couldn’t come at a better time. I was starting to feel boxed in with all the serious posts that I have been writing. I get a certain pleasure from writing them, but it’s different than writing the comical pieces like the one you’re about to read.

I want to thank my readers, fans, and friends for sending their questions in.

Disclaimer: the thoughts and views expressed in the e-mails sent to me are in no way the thoughts and views of the writer of this piece. They are real e-mails from real people around the world.

As always, this will be in Q & A format, and I will be referring to myself by my initials- A.B.

Q: Love, when spelled backwards and read phonetically, reads evil. Don’t do drugs, don’t have unprotected sex, don’t be violent. Leave that to me. Somewhere deep down there’s a decent man in me, he just can’t be found.    (more…)

All this “best player in the series” talk has me wondering…

Dear Epic Mess Fans

May 4, 2011

Hi there,

(In Troy McClure voice) I’m Anthony Burrola. You might remember me from such blogs as, “Defending Chris Bosh” and the timeless “The Case Against Dynasties.” If you knew me before I was blogging at http://www.epicmess.wordpress.com, then you probably know that once in a while I enjoy writing Mailbags. They are a lot of fun, and my readers, most of whom are famous, tend to take time out of their busy days to vent to me, ask me questions, make comments, or even seek advice. While I am no Miss Cleo, Dr. Phil, Jesus Christ, or the Easter Bunny, I have been known to deliver the goods.

I’m going out of town for the weekend, so come back here on Monday and I’ll have some fresh updates for you.

Have a wonderful weekend, and don’t forget to catch the Spurs @ Grizzlies tonight, or Celtics @ Heat on Sunday.

Live Chat With Anthony Burrola

Join Me on Thursday, 28 April 2011 for a Live Chat

April 27, 2011

That’s right, folks. We’re making Epic Mess weblog history as I’ll be hosting my first ever Live Chat. It will take place tomorrow night at 6:45 pm (Pacific Standard Time), and virtually anything is up for discussion.

It should be a lot of fun, and I am hoping to hear from all walks of NBA and NFL fans, as the draft will precede my Live Chat, so there should be plenty to digest. Additionally, we will be chatting up until the tipoff of Game 6 of Lakers-Hornets (road team goes last), and possibly into the game as well, provided we have enough participants.

All questions (within reason) are welcome.

Hope to hear from you.

Till next time.

Live Chat Update

April 27, 2011

Thanks in large part to some friends, I will finally be able to host a live chat with you, the readers, via some really fun software.

I’m interested to hear what you guys think.

I want to talk about anything you want to talk about, except for baseball, because I hate it (unless you want to talk about how much I hate it.) So jot some questions down, read some articles, do your research, or come in and cold chat with me. Nay, US.

I haven’t set an official date yet, but it will be within the next two days. I’m thinking Wednesday or Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30. I’ll advertise as best I can.

Till then, enjoy the playoffs!

Easter Weekend

April 23, 2011

Enjoy your Easter weekend.

I’ll have a post for you on Sunday morning.

Till then, feel free to look at my old posts, go to realgm.com, or watch ’90’s action films in honor of the holiday.

As always, thanks for reading.

Happy Easter.

An Epic Mess Resurrected: 3.0

April 15, 2011

I’m back.

That’s right. For the foreseeable future, I’ll be updating daily. There are simply too many good story lines for me to not get in on this.

Not only am I back, but I am better than ever. My website will have some new features, including some more roundtables, like this onemailbags, some guest bloggers, and a brand new weekly chat feature where you can join me once a week and I can answer any question you have, or we can just shoot the ####.

So, if you’re into sports, I would love to hear from you.
