Quick NBA Updates

  • Things aren’t going well in Portland. Among the many injuries the team’s being forced to endure, their head coach and should-be starting point guard Andre Miller had a heated and lengthy verbal exchange of sorts. I got $20 bucks that says they put it together to keep their ridiculously long home winning streak against the Lakers going tonight.
  • Houston is still looking to improve, announcing today that they are interested in making a deal with Toronto to try to get Chris Bosh in a Rocket uni. That would undoubtedly be a tremendous compliment to Yao Ming.
  • The Raptors absolutely stole the game in Philadelphia, with Chris Bosh making a game-winning and-one layup to put Toronto up 108-106 with 8 seconds left. The 76ers played extremely well, with all of their starters reaching double-figures in points, including Allen Iverson, who finished with 22 points. Lou Williams missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, which assured Toronto of a win. Bosh finished with 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Raptors are now officially over .500 with a 19-18 record.
  • The Washington Wizards used a strong 4th quarter to take control against a skidding Orlando Magic team. The Wizards won for the first time since the Arenas suspension, subtly quieting all the hoopla that’s been going on in the District of Columbia. Dwight Howard scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a losing effort for Orlando. Vince Carter left the game early because of a shoulder injury and did not return. All the starters for Washington out-played the Orlando starters, resulting in a 104-97 win. Orlando is now 24-12.

Good stuff. Damn Lakers! When will they break Portland’s home streak?

  2. Daniel Cool Beans Lee Says:

I’m getting tired of two digit Laker games. Also, wtf was up with the free throw disparity tonight? I feel torn by it. In one hand, I think Portland put in a tremendous effort to shut us out of the game early, but in another hand, for us to have stayed so close in the ball game despite the call favors…I don’t know what to think. It just kills me inside, man.

Assuming Yao Ming is still Yao Ming when he returns.
